Journal History

From 2001-2012, the Maths, Stats and OR (MSOR) Network published MSOR Connections, a place where those involved in learning, teaching, assessment and support could report on work they had recently undertaken and discuss topics of interest to the HE MSOR community. The readership was primarily lecturers within Mathematics, Statistics and Operational Research but also consisted of educational and staff developers and support staff.

In 2012, the publication was taken over by the Higher Education Academy and a further two issues were released, the last one in November 2013.

The HEA, following a cut in funding, was no longer publishing any of its subject-specific journals including MSOR Connections and this left a significant gap in the dissemination and development of innovative practice across the HE MSOR community. As a result practitioners within the community agreed to revive  MSOR Connections as an online journal, with the support of the sigma network ( and hosted by the University of Greenwich.
