Abstract

This special issue of MSOR Connections presents a selection of papers from the inaugural E-
Assessment in Mathematical Sciences (EAMS) conference, held in September 2016 at Newcastle
University. It is pleasing that there is enough activity in this area to support a two-day international
conference on this topic. I am delighted that this issue offers international perspectives on the
conference themes, including papers from Finland, Ireland, the Netherlands, Japan and the UK.
